General Description
The Cleveland Vibrator Company offers a wide range of light, medium, and heavy-duty vibratory feeders for controlling the flow of bulk materials. Model CF-A pneumatic powered (reciprocating air-cushioned piston) and model CF-E electromagnetic powered drives are available for light and medium-duty applications. Model EMF utilizes twin rotary electric vibrator drives which are available in four speeds for medium to heavy-duty applications. These drives all produce a linear motion that provides smooth, uniform, volumetric flow which is fully adjustable.
Applications
The Cleveland Vibrator Company's feeders are used to control product flow in many bulk material handling applications, including packaging, batching, mixing, drying, cooling, weighing, sprinkling, dusting and spreading. Product bulk densities handled by CVC feeders range from five to four hundred pounds per cubic foot. Some typical feeder applications include:
+ Chemical Plants, for the controlled flow of ingredients to mixing tanks.
+ Food Industry, to sprinkle toppings or coatings on food and dairy products.
+ Foundries, for the addition of binders and carbons to sand reprocessing systems.
+ Iron and Steel Industry, for the controlled flow of limestone ore and scrap to the smelting surface.
+ Pulp and Paper Industry, for chemical additive feeding in the bleaching process and chip handling systems.
+ Metal Working Industry, for feeding metal parts to heat treating furnaces.
+ Ceramics Industry, for controlled ingredient flow in the batching process.
+ Glass Industry, for handling glass cullet to the furnace in the manufacture of glass products.
+ Chemical Additive Handling, such as lime and diatomaceous earth, in water and sewage treatment plants.
Construction
The Cleveland Vibrator Company's feeders are available in a variety of trough shapes. Units can be furnished with special trough coatings, such as neoprene, UHMW, urethane, nonstick polymer coating, removable abrasive-resistant steel plate, and anti-stick textured surfaces. The trough can be furnished in steel and polished stainless steel to meet the most demanding requirements.
Controls
The Cleveland Vibrator Company offers a wide choice of controls for the operation of both Air and Electric-Powered Feeders.
Standard controls for Air-Powered Feeders consist of a quick-acting valve, air line filter, pressure regulator gauge, lubricator, and a five-foot long air hose with pipe fittings.
Standard controls for Electromagnetic-Powered Feeders consist of a transformer-type device which adjusts the intensity of vibration by varying the applied voltage. Standard controls for ElectroMechanical Feeders consist of a wall mounted control box with on/off push-button and overload protection. An optional variable
frequency controller is also available.
Also available are Special Controls for Remote Operation, two speed, maximum to minimum material flow controls for batch weighing, and panel board controls for multiple feeder installations.
Hazardous Duty Feeders
Air-Powered Feeder units are recommended for use in hazardous areas. They are equipped with explosion-proof solenoid or air pilot operated signal valves. These are ideal for atmospheres containing explosive dust, vapor or gas. Consult our fabricated equipment sales department for special hazardous duty electromagnetic and rotary electric drives.
Capacity Ratings
Capacities shown in the charts are based on the standard trough size, handling dry sand. For assistance in feeder sizing and selection, contact the fabricated products division of The Cleveland Vibrator Company.
